Thika Town gets a Major Boost on Roads

(Tender No: KURA/DEV/HQ/341/2019/2020)

After much intervention and aggressive lobbying, The National Government through Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) will be upgrading to tarmac and recarpeting a number of roads in Thika Town

Gatuanyaga - Munyu - Kang'oki Road covering upto 18 Kilometres will be lifted to Bitumen standards at a cost of Kshs 1 Billion, giving a sigh of relief to the Gatuanyaga Ward residents who have suffered for long over poor infrastructure. The road will stretch from Gatuanyaga Junction( A3) towards Munyu via Githima and exiting at Kangoki (A3)

Already KURA has completed Road survey works and advertisement for contracting done Today.

Thika Town CBD roads and it's environs will get recarpeting done covering over 13 Kilometers at a cost of Kshs 700 Million.

The roads which have been approved and some already underway include:
- Commercial Street
- Cross Road
- General Kago Road
- Haile Selassie Road
- Harry Thuku Road
- Kenyatta Highway
- Kwame Nkrumah Road
- Magoko Road (in progress)
- Bull Road
- Mama Ngina Road
- Stadium Road
- Temple Road
- Trikha Girls Road
- Uhuru Street
- Upper Road
- Workshop Road

This will ensure movement within Thika Central area has been enhanced and the face of the Thika Town uplifted.
